The CTEK MXS 5.0 smart battery charger is designed for charging and maintaining 12V lead-acid batteries. It supports WET, MF, Ca/Ca, AGM, EFB and GEL battery types. It must not be used to charge Li-ion or LiFePO4 batteries.
The charger features an automatic 8-stage charging process, a selectable 0.8A small-battery programme and a normal charging programme delivering up to 5A. Built-in temperature compensation and battery condition diagnosis support the charging process. Float/Pulse maintenance charging helps preserve battery charge during extended periods of storage.
When is this useful?
Suitable for regular charging and maintenance of 12V lead-acid batteries in cars, motorcycles and seasonally used vehicles. A dedicated AGM charging option supports compatible AGM batteries. The RECOND programme provides a reconditioning cycle for certain flooded lead-acid batteries.

Selection & installation tips
- Battery chemistry: use only with 12V lead-acid batteries. Li-ion and LiFePO4 batteries require a separate, suitable lithium-compatible charger.
- Battery capacity: the 1.2–110Ah range applies to charging. The 160Ah rating applies to maintenance charging only.
- Programme selection: always choose a programme compatible with the battery manufacturer's permitted charging voltage and battery chemistry. The AGM option uses a charging voltage of 14.7V.
- RECOND programme: intended primarily for suitable WET and Ca/Ca lead-acid batteries when permitted by the battery manufacturer. Do not use on AGM, GEL or lithium batteries. Protect vehicle electronics from the elevated reconditioning voltage.
- Safe connection: follow the charger and vehicle instructions, verify polarity and ensure suitable ventilation during charging.
